Mood: Living to kitesurf :-)
1st May 2003
Windsurfing: Tarifa-Los Lances&Las Dunas
Wind Direction: W (Poniente)
Wind Stength: 3-4
Surf / Sea State: Slight swell & waves
Air Temperature: 24
Sea Temperature: 16
Weather: Mucho scorchio!
Max Speed:
Distance Covered:

Went to Los Lances for a change of scenery, but the metre-high waves looked a bit too challenging on such a ¥big kit¥ day. Watched 2 windsurfers make it through the break and one NOT, so decided to leave the 500 or so kitesurfers (who were having a great time) to it.

At Las Dunas the waves were less threatening, so out I went. After a few trudges up & down, I started getting fed up with being overtaken by widestyle ¥Hovercrafts¥ with their enormous sails. But then I actually got a few planing runs in. It was my first time planing on ¥The Barge¥ in living memory... after the Axxis (sh** off a shovel) it was quite comical to be lumbering over the chop like a dignified hippo, but it was great fun. The fact the wind was so marginal meant a few upwind slogs to get back to my starting point, and although it took 2 attempts to get back through the shorebreak, it really was great! :-)
